Meet Priyanka

I am a qualified integrative psychotherapist based in Edinburgh. I provide personalised psychotherapy for adults of all races, genders, sexual orientations and relationship styles. I offer not only talking therapy but also use art materials where this helps facilitate client’s explorations of themselves.

I attained an MSc in Art Psychotherapy at Queen Margaret University and before that at Edinburgh college, attaining a COSCA certificate in Counselling. I am also an accredited member of The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). To ensure that my practice is safe and effective, I adhere to their code and guidance of conduct and code of ethics. I also attend regular supervision.

My Approach

Sometimes life throws challenges in front of us which we may struggle to cope with. This could be a sudden and unexpected change like a loss or bereavement. It could be something that we have always struggled with that is making it challenging to move forward with life. Situations such as these can be stressful, and sometimes we can't shake off the anxiety and depression or we may even experience anhedonia (inability to feel pleasure in usually pleasurable activities). It might also be a past trauma or abuse that is causing the challenges in the present life, revealing itself as panic for example.

I believe each and everyone of us is unique - and so are our challenges and the ways in which we can overcome them. In our therapeutic relationship, drawing from your experience with your life and my learnings from different modalities of psychotherapy, we will together explore a tailored approach that works for you. I strive to provide a safe, empathetic and non-judgmental space for you to explore your hopes, dreams and challenges. We try to understand the root of it all by working together at a pace that is safe and comfortable for you and use that understanding to inform the healing process.

If you find it challenging to express your emotions with words, in addition to traditional ‘talking therapy’, I invite you to explore your expressions through the use of art materials, which I provide in the therapy space. You don't need any prior experience in art to do this. Art acts as a medium that helps you recognise and connect with previously inaccessible parts of yourself.
